The Newport County YMCA’s Group Exercise
has a comprehensive fitness and wellness schedule that serves
the novice to advanced participant. Class offerings include yoga,
hip hop, indoor cycling, Pilates mat-based workouts, kick boxing,
body sculpting, step and impact workouts. Our instructors are
nationally certified by ACSM (American Council of Sports Medicine),
ACE (American Council of Exercise) and/or AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness
Association of America). Their experience ranges from national
fitness champions/competitors, certified yoga instructors and
professional dance instructors to pharmacists, nurses, teachers,
artists and moms!
Indoor Cycling
Indoor Cycling is a workout that allows you to exercise at your
own pace. Cycling can be very intense and extremely effective
workout. The setting and music, along with our motivating instructors,
will take you on a journey that will create a great body and mind
workout. Indoor Cycling fills up fast. Sign in at the Member Services
Desk; space is limited.
Mom’s in Motion – Pre/Post-natal exercise
class – 60 Minutes
This is a movement class designed for the expecting or new mom.
Pre and post natal moms are invited to this class specially designed
to assist you with pregnancy and post pregnancy goals. Babies
in strollers are welcome! This one hour class is taught by our
pre and post natal exercise instructor Lynda West.

The Newport County YMCA offers a fitness classes off site.
Join us for any or all of the following: Strength & Stretch
Gentle weights/Pilates/Flexibility. This is a core conditioning
class that builds strength and flexibility with your own personal
strength. Props are used. All levels are welcome!
Body Design
A full body workout using free weights (and other props) to tone
& strengthen muscles while using a mild music tempo. Pilates
may also be incorporated for core strength. Not geared for cardio
but promis to make you sweat!
Master Classes
Specialty formatted classes for our members by which instructors
donate their time. There is a nominal fee. Classes are offered
once per month. Contact the YMCA for more information, or visit
our website.
AOA (Active Older Adult) – 60 Minutes
A fun and energizing workout to music. A cardiovascular section
along with overall body toning makes this a safe and balanced
program for the active older adult. All ages are welcome.
Senior Strength – 60 Minutes
Move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase
muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living
skills.
