| Our Wellness Center Offers: |
- 14 stations of Strive® Smart Strength™,
Bodymaster, and Nautilus to strengthen and tone all
of the major muscle groups.
Strive® Smart Strength™ is promoted as
the most efficient and effective strength technology
developed with a patented adjustable-variable resistance
cam that enables you to more work in less time.
By simply following the circuit, it is possible
to train your entire body in just 30 minutes and
see greater results than you have ever achieved.
The Newport County YMCA is the first facility in
Rhode Island to offer this exciting new technology.
- The following cardiovascular equipment:
> Precor Cross trainers
> Life Fitness Treadmills
> Concept II Rowers
> Life Cycles (Upright and Recumbent)
> Stair Masters
> Versa Climbers
> Free Climbers
> Life Fitness Elliptical Cross trainers
- Wellness Center Orientations
Appointments are encouraged for all of our new
members and guest to learn to use any of the cardiovascular
equipment and circuit machines in our Wellness Center.
The best way to schedule an appointment is to do
so either in person in the Wellness Center with
one of the Fitness Staff or by calling the Wellness
Center at 847-9200 ext.119.
In 2006 we purchased a unique line of circuit strength
equipment called Strive® Smart Strength™.
Because members and guests may not be familiar with
how to properly use these machines, we ask that
everyone sign up for an orientation on this equipment
prior to using it on their own.

| Wellness Center Protocol |
- For safety reasons, we restrict
the use of the Wellness Center to individuals who
are 10 years and older.
- New members are required to schedule
an Orientation session to learn how to use the Strive®
Smart Strength™ and other equipment in our Wellness
Center.
- Please follow the circuit etiquette,
following the circuit stations sequentially.
- There is a 30-minute time limit on
all Cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, Precors,
ellipiicals, etc.) when others are waiting or during
our high volume times.
- Please wipe down equipment after use.
Paper towels and spray bottles are provided for your
convenience.
- If the Cardio equipment is full, please
use the sign up boards located next to the equipment.
Be sure to write your name and the time that you sign
up. During busy times, our Fitness Staff ensure that
all members follow this procedure.

| Youth and Teens Fitness Policy |
- Children under the age of 10 are not
allowed in the Wellness Center or Free Weight room
at any time.
- Children 10 -12 years of age who have
completed the Youth/Teen fitness class or have had
an Orientation AND are being directly supervised by
an adult are allowed in the Wellness Center Mon-Fri
from 2:30-5:00pm and after 12 noon on weekends. Note:
Youths must be 4’11” to safely use the
Strive® Smart Strength™ Circuit machines.
- Children 13 -14 years of age who have
taken the Youth/Teen fitness class or have had an
Orientation will be allowed in the Wellness Center
Mon-Fri from 2:30-5:00pm and after 12 noon on weekends.
