YMCA Afterschool is a place and program
for children K-5 to go and participate during the hours
before and after school, when there may be no adult
supervision at home. YMCA Afterschool provides children
with an opportunity to engage in activities, which benefit
them socially, motionally, physically, and intellectually.
Activities may include arts-and-crafts, music, field
trips, physical fitness, daily snack, and homework club.
These activities promote cultural diversity and character
development. The rogram is conducted and planned by
trained staff, who strive to be positive role models,
endeavoring to meet the needs of each child. The program
is flexible enough to accommodate children from different
age groups and at the same time fulfill special needs
of individuals.
Before school care begins at 7:00 a.m.
and is offered at Aquidneck, Forest Avenue and Coggeshall
Schools. The Afterschool Program is offered at the YMCA,
Forest Avenue, Aquidneck Schools, Newport Schools and
Jamestown Elementary Schools.
